March Letter From the Editor

Hi everyone!

Happy (late) March! I hope y’all are all having an amazing month so far despite the surprise cold weather. Even if this month has not been amazing, get excited because Spring Break is here (almost)! I’m dragging myself through the last few days with my soon-to-be 12 hour night’s sleep motivating me. I’m sure many of you feel similarly. 

The time between returning from spring break and leaving for summer break is, in my opinion, the hardest time of the year. Those few weeks are packed with preparing for and taking APs, preparing for and taking exams, writing papers, and planning for the next school year. I’m not sure how qualified I am to give advice on approaching those weeks, so all I will say is this: get outside and don’t count down the days till you finish school. Otherwise, the weeks will be excruciatingly slow and you won’t enjoy the good parts. 

For me, the realization that my class is leaving after those next few weeks is truly sinking in. I’m sure I will become more and more sentimental about Springs as May 15 creeps closer, but I wanted to take a second to appreciate one aspect I’ve thought about frequently recently-- the animals.

I began reflecting on how the animals of Springs impacted me when Mr. Colvin brought Sirius, the friendly black puggle who I hadn’t seen since 8th grade, back to campus. From faculty dogs and roaming cats (@Clyde) to Mr. Brunzell’s goats and Special Equestrians’ horses, interacting with each animal has been a memorable part of my Springs experience and a much needed source of calm during stressful times. Get to know the animals! 

I hope you have a great spring break! But before you do, take a second to read this issue.
