Until Next Time

It doesn’t take a lifetime to love someone.

When you have a sibling, you don’t get a choice whether or not you love them,

You just do

After some time of squeezing into each other’s space for almost two decades, memories form and annoyance sometimes builds.

I could say that living with my brother for the past 15 years was great but sometimes it really wasn’t. (Naturally, I was the one who made the mistakes)

I have been a bit of a difficult sibling and that naturally happens when you’re the youngest- the last to do everything-  drive, travel alone, and go off to college. College.

He will be off to college nearly as soon as graduation.

I don’t actually know what it will be like being an only child and walking past his room only for it to be constantly empty.

I will be driving myself to school- no longer sitting shotgun in his car and stopping for sushi after school.

And no more random hellos when I pop into his room just to say hi and walk out soon after.

Maybe I will be too busy to realize that I am missing something.

It’s a bit hard to see that you’ll be leaving in a few months since this year has felt like a mere second, leaving me to blink in August and open my eyes to May.

Even though I haven’t admitted it to you yet, I will deeply miss you when you’re gone but I am happy to see how far you go. Thank you for everything and see you soon!  Visit often, you’re only a few states away!

Best travels,

Rezi
